Applying the Current Eclipses to Your Natal Chart
Eclipse season is upon us! These powerful celestial events are more than just supercharged New and Full Moons – they're often key turning points on our personal journey. Eclipses bring about significant endings and beginnings, illuminating areas of our lives that will undergo transformation. Eclipses nudge us to re-evaluate our paths, release what no longer serves us, and embrace new opportunities for growth. This spring's eclipses fall in Virgo and Aries, impacting specific areas of your life depending on where these signs fall in your birth chart. To be forewarned is to be forearmed. By knowing the dates, degrees and signs, and in which houses these fall for you, you gain some valuable insights into the themes you'll be working with for the coming six months and beyond.
First, if you are brand new to astrology and you do not already have your birth chart, you will need to get more familiar with your chart before applying this to the current eclipses. For that, I would recommend visiting any of the many great free sites that provide you with a printed birth chart. Try Astrology Café, Astro.com, or Astro-Seek.com for a free birth chart. You will need your birth date, place, and exact time of birth to generate it. Then, after you get more familiar with your birth chart, you can more easily determine which houses will be impacted by this year’s eclipse degrees.

March 14, 2025 Total Lunar Eclipse at 23 Virgo
March 29, 2025 Partial Solar Eclipse at 8/9 Aries
How to Apply
The main task in determining how an eclipse will impact you is to see in which houses these eclipse degrees of the zodiac (23 Virgo and 9 Aries) fall for you and consider that in the context of other placements in your chart. Here are some general indications of the types of topics that are indicated by each house axis. Because the eclipses occur in opposite signs, they are grouped in pairs by the house opposite from it along the same axis.
1st – 7th House
1st house self, identity, body and appearance. 7th house partnership relationships. Keywords: great beginnings or endings with respect to self, identity, or key relationships
2nd – 8th House
2nd house is the financial axis, having to do with my money, my possessions, the resources I value and need for optimal functioning. 8th house is “other people’s money and resources,” or the resources of others close to us. Keywords: inheritance, gifts, mortality, death, financial resources going out, taxes, scholarships.
3rd – 9th House
3rd house local travel, and younger learning, 9th house is long distance travel and higher learning. Communication, teaching and learning. 9th house philosophical or religious beliefs. Keywords: Spiritual or religious transformation. 3rd house (habits, lower mind) 9th house (beliefs and practices, higher mind)
4th – 10th House
This forms the vertical axis of the chart and strongly impacts the home/career. 4th house is our private self, our roots, or home and family, genealogy or ancestry. 10th house is public self, career, or mission, your overall sense of purpose and life direction.
5th – 11th House
5th house relates to children, pregnancy, conception, sexuality, things you do for fun and creative expression, having to do with any young people in your life whether or not you have your own children. 11th house has to do with friends, groups, organizations, informal and formal networks of people and alliances whether recreational, professional, or other interest groups.
6th – 12th House
6th house relates to your health, diet/exercise, your daily job or work and all that enables you to perform service, your employees, pets or animals in general, or any subordinate roles of service that you perform. 12th house is anything that takes you away from regular life like rest, sleep, the unconscious, meditation, ashrams, sabbaticals, balancing your workloads with your rest, institutions that take you away from your everyday life like prisons, mental hospitals, hospitals, or other places where you are meant to rehabilitate or get better. 12th house also represents endings, closing down the current cycle, rest & reflection before a new cycle begins in the 1st house. 12th house can also represent enemies, or where you are at cross purposes with others. It is known as the house of the unconscious or deeper things that you may or may not be aware of, like karmic relationships and past lives.
